Terms of Service
SCImago Graphica is free to use. Most of it runs in your browser and needs no account. If you publish a chart online, these terms set out what you can publish, what we do with it, and what each of us is responsible for. Please read them: by using the service you agree to them.
1. Who provides the service
SCImago Graphica (the "service") is provided by Yusef Hassan Montero, a natural person based in Spain, who develops and operates it. You can reach us at support@graphica.app. The name and logo "SCImago Graphica" belong to SCImago Lab and are used under its authorisation; SCImago Lab does not operate the service and is not a party to these terms.
2. What the service is
The service has two parts:
- The app (www.graphica.app/web/), where you explore data and build visualizations. It runs in your browser; your data and projects stay on your device and are never sent to us. See the privacy policy.
- Publishing online, which lets you put a chart on the web at its own address (on the domain gphcdn.net) so that anyone can view it, embed it on a web page and download its data. Publishing requires an account.
Both parts are offered free of charge. We may add paid features in the future; nothing you publish for free will be put behind a payment.
3. Accounts
To publish, you sign in with a Google, Microsoft or GitHub account. We create a Graphica account linked to that identity, holding only your display name and an identifier from the provider (never your email address). You are responsible for what is done with your account: keep your sign-in secure and sign out on shared computers (sessions also expire on their own). You must be at least 16 years old, or have your parent's or guardian's permission, to create an account.
You can delete your account at any time from the app. Deleting it removes your published charts and your account data as described in the privacy policy.
4. Your content
When you publish a chart, you upload the chart's settings and its full dataset ("your content"). You keep all rights to your content. To run the service you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, display and distribute your content, publicly and in any format the service uses (the chart page, embeds on other websites, the data download), for as long as the chart is published and for the short time afterwards needed to delete it and to keep backups. The licence ends when the chart is deleted, except for copies that are kept for legal reasons or that remain in backups for up to 60 days.
You are responsible for your content. By publishing you confirm that:
- you have the rights needed to publish the data and the chart, including any third-party material (images, logos, text) they contain, and to grant the licence above;
- if the data contains personal data about other people, you have a lawful basis to make it public and you comply with data-protection law; and
- the content does not break the rules in section 5.
Published charts show "Made with Scimago Graphica" and, only if you choose it, your display name. We do not claim authorship of your charts.
5. Rules
You may not publish, or use the service to distribute, content that:
- is illegal, or infringes the rights of others (copyright, trademark, privacy, image rights, confidentiality);
- contains personal data about other people without a lawful basis, or sensitive personal data (health, religion, sexual orientation, political opinions, and the like) about identifiable people;
- impersonates a person or organisation, or misleads about its source;
- is spam, advertising unrelated to the data, scams, malware or links to them;
- harasses, threatens or incites violence or hatred against people or groups.
You may not attempt to break into the service, to overload it, to get around its limits, or to use it to attack others. Automated publishing is allowed within the limits, provided it respects these rules.
6. Published charts are public
A published chart is public: anyone with its address can view it, embed it in any website and download the full dataset as a CSV file. Addresses are not listed anywhere by us, but they can be shared and found by others. The service does not offer private or password-protected charts. Do not publish data you are not willing to make public.
Charts are also marked so that search engines do not index them on their own, but they may be indexed as part of a web page that embeds them.
7. Limits, versions and deletion
The service has limits (number of charts per account, size of each chart, publications per hour and per day, new accounts per day) to keep it free and reliable. The app tells you when you hit one. We keep the last five versions of each chart; older versions are deleted. When you delete a chart it stops being available immediately and its files are removed within 30 days; offline backups may keep them for up to 60 days. We may change the limits with reasonable notice in the app or on this site.
8. Reports, removal and suspension
Every published chart has a "Report" link that explains how to report it by email to support@graphica.app. We review every report. If we conclude that content breaks these terms or the law, we may remove it, and in serious or repeated cases suspend the account. When we remove a chart or suspend an account, we tell its owner the reason in the app (you will see it the next time you sign in), and we tell the person who reported it our decision by email. Removed charts show a neutral "no longer available" page at their address and in embeds.
If you think a decision was wrong, write to support@graphica.app within six months, explaining why. We will review it and reply. These procedures follow the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065), including the notice-and-action mechanism (art. 16) and the statement of reasons (art. 17). We do not use automated decision-making to remove content.
We may also remove content or suspend accounts without a report when we become aware of a breach, and we comply with lawful orders from courts and authorities.
9. Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep the service available, but it is offered free and "as is": we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever decide to end the publishing service, we will give at least 90 days' notice in the app and on this site so that you can download your charts (you can always keep a .gph copy of your projects from the app).
10. Our software and brand
The service's software, design and documentation are ours or used under licence, and they are not open source. You may use them only through the service. The charts you create with the app are yours, including the images you export from it. The embeddable library (graphica.js) that renders published charts may be used on your own pages only to display charts published through the service, as the embed code does. Any other use of the library, such as rendering your own data on your own site, redistributing it or modifying it, requires a written agreement with us: write to support@graphica.app.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data arising from the use of a free service, nor for the content that other users publish. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights that your local consumer law gives you.
You are responsible for the content you publish, and you will cover the reasonable costs we incur if a third party makes a claim against us because of it.
12. Ending the relationship
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the app. We can suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, as described in section 8, or that have been inactive for more than two years, after giving notice in the app.
13. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and you may bring claims before the courts of that country. Otherwise, the courts of Spain have jurisdiction. The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform is no longer in operation; please contact us first and we will try to resolve any issue directly.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the service or the law changes. For changes that affect your rights we will give notice in the app or on this site at least 30 days before they take effect; if you keep using the publishing service after that, the new terms apply. The "Last updated" date above shows the current version.
